If kitesurfing lessons
are part of your plans this summer, Why not give yourself a try with these tips
to make sure you come out successful. To ensure that your experience turns out
exactly as planned, you need the fundamentals to start out.
The kite used in
kitesurfing is the same as a regular kite; the only difference is that it is bigger.
Try and get ahead of the game and try buying a normal hand held kite and learn
how to fly it if you want to get a feel of how to handle a kite before going
for the lessons. This will help you with the basics of how it works although it
won’t be the same as being on a kite board.
If you have never flown
a hand held kite, I’d recommend a good beginner’s book because most of them
have step by step instructions and diagrams. Try and start out by learning how
to launch the kite then spend a few hours learning how to control the kite and
keep it floating. It is said to be the best way to develop your understanding
of how the kite will react to different wind strengths, direction and speed and
this will obviously put you ahead in preparation for your kite surfing lessons.
Spending a few days
beforehand to go windsurfing or board surfing will help you get used to the
kite board as fast as possible. What I know is that, it is not as cool as kite
boarding but patience my friend and the reward will come.
Choosing a good guide
with diagrams and pictures is the best way to learn as this will give an
advantage to understanding all you need to learn about skills and techniques,
water and wind conditions, kitesurfing equipment
and the safety required when lessons start.
When you are kitesurfing, safety is a big issue. Always be ahead of
the crowd and read about water etiquette and how surfing is done to avoid accidents.
Also learn how to read wind and water conditions and what to do in case of
accidents. You will have more time to practice on the water instead of being in
the classroom when you have most of your reading done.
Maybe you have decided
to go on a kitesurfing camp with real effort and enthusiasm; you will become a
great surfer but don’t forget experience is the only way you will be able to
achieve this awesome goal of joining the ranks of the seriously cool people who
always enjoy this extreme sport.
